Inside 'La Cathédrale' at the Grotte de Lombrives, SW France

This was a deeply humbling moment of sharing my voice at the request of others, during a recent visit to a cave in SW France with phenomenal acoustics. The notes are intuitive, as I surrendered to what I felt wanted to flow through me in the moment for those who were present.

Once upon a time, I felt terrified of improvising in front of others, but after years of letting go of worrying about precision and perfection, it is one of the things I most love to do.

From the outset, I encourage my students to explore their voice beyond the limitations of specific song-learning. This way they discover an empowering balance between singing songs and also enjoying the vast treasure-chest of sounds their voices can make, simply because that is what their voice guides them to experience in the moment.
